DEAR

PARENTS

From start to finish, campers will absolutely love a week at Camp Rappahannock as we adventure beyond our wildest imaginations during our upcoming summer season!

Every day of the week is jammed packed with Bible studies, loads of outdoor fun, water activities, a ropes course, archery, fishing, canoeing, hiking, and much more! Now, doesn’t that sound fun?

We will adventure into creation and discover the outdoor playground God has given to us! Our safer-than-safe, fun-obsessed, Jesus-loving staff scrutinize every detail. Everything that happens at camp is planned to help your child return home as a better version of their already awesome selves! Our prayer for each camper is that they would know the grace and love of Jesus! This is our mission!

MONEY

AND VALUABLES

It is not necessary to send money with your child to camp, in fact, we discourage it. The campers are provided canteen items as part of the camp registration fee and each camper will also receive a Camp T-shirt at the end of the week. If a child does bring money and or a cell phone to camp, it will be stored in the camp safe and returned at the end of the week. These items will be collected at registration.

Camp Rappahannock is not responsible for lost or stolen money or valuables (including cell phones).

APPROPRIATE

DRESS FOR CAMP

Campers will feel the most comfortable during their day with an appropriate dress for all our fun activities.

Be mindful that our campers spend a lot of time enjoying nature. As such we encourage appropriate weather attire. We encourage hats and covering the shoulders to provide protection from the sun.

  • To participate in awesome activities: campers should be able to participate in all activities including outdoor adventure, bending, stretching, and raising hands comfortably. Avoid accessories that hang or easily tangle (i.e. earrings, necklaces, chains).
  • To enjoy time at the pool: one-piece swimsuits and modest swim shorts are recommended. For practical and safety reasons straps are expected on all suits.
  • Respect each other! Any slogans on clothing should be free of profane language, alcohol, tobacco references, and racial or extreme comments.

CELL PHONES
We ask that cell phones not be sent with campers. Our counselors will collect them from the camper if they are brought, and they will be secured in the camp safe. The camper will receive the phone back at the end of the camp. To maintain the privacy and integrity of our campers, cell phones, and digital cameras are not permitted at camp. The camp will not assume responsibility for the loss or damage of any of the above items. If any of these items are found, they will be held in the camp office until the end of the camp week.

CAMP HEALTH

WHILE AT CAMP

It is essential that we have complete and up-to-date medical, insurance, and contact information for all our campers. Our Nurse will review each camper’s medical history to properly care for every child. Campers with incomplete or missing information will not be permitted to remain on the campgrounds. Specific information about the required medical forms and information is set forth below.

TELL US EVERYTHING
It is the absolute responsibility of a parent to let us know everything emotionally, physically, psychologically, or medically important and relevant regarding your child. This will only assist us in working with your child in a sensitive and caring manner. Please be proactive. If we are informed, we can do our jobs. All the information gathered is securely stored on our online database and is only accessible by our camp administration.

PRESCRIPTION DRUGS
Our infirmary stocks basic over-the-counter medications for common camp complaints. If a camper must go to the doctor while at camp, and require medications from a pharmacy, we will secure those medications. Any prescription medications your child brings to camp must be listed on their online camper profile, be clearly marked with the following, secured in a Ziplock bag, and must also be in the original container from the pharmacy.
1. The name of the drug
2. Specific instructions for dosage
3. The name of the prescribing physician
4. The name of the child
NOTE - If the medication is not listed on the online profile, it will not be given to your child.

MEDICAL VISITS WHILE AT CAMP
If your child is seen by the camp nurse for a minor illness/injury, we will generally not contact you. If it is necessary to take your child to a doctor, we will contact you or your emergency
contact to keep you informed.

Please be aware that the Camper Insurance Policy pays up to the first $250.00 without regard to your own personal insurance
coverage. Any amount over $250.00 will be sent either to your personal insurance carrier or to you personally.
